PROJECTS / WEB INTERFACES

A static landing page for Shopify themes

As the sole developer, I built and published a standalone theme landing page with responsive cards, sliders, optimised imagery and an external quiz. I also implemented later layout iterations supplied by the team.

A static landing page for Shopify themes

Concept illustration of a theme landing page with fictional storefront previews and a quiz loading state.

Challenge. Decision. Outcome.

01 / Challenge

Build a separate page promoting Shopify themes with a priority on fast delivery and loading. Regular editing through a CMS was not required. I chose a static HTML, CSS and JavaScript implementation rather than retaining the framework and CMS used by the main corporate website.

02 / Decision

I built the responsive layout, theme and preset cards, sliders and interactive elements from scratch. Glide provided the slider behaviour. The design and subsequent changes were supplied by the team; my responsibility was their technical implementation.

03 / Outcome

The standalone landing page was developed and published, with media preparation, quiz integration and subsequent interface iterations. The company could release different page arrangements without rebuilding the main Gatsby website. No measured loading-time or conversion improvement is claimed.

A complete standalone implementation

I built the responsive layout, theme and preset cards, sliders and interactive elements from scratch. Glide provided the slider behaviour. The design and subsequent changes were supplied by the team; my responsibility was their technical implementation.

Preparing the media

I selected image sizes, compressed and converted images to WebP, and prepared 1x and 2x variants. The markup used density-based responsive sources so the browser could select the appropriate image. Asset preparation was part of the implementation rather than a finished package handed to me.

An external quiz that could recover

I integrated a third-party quiz and adapted its presentation, including styles within its Shadow DOM. I added a readiness check and a message when the widget did not become available. If it loaded later, the code completed setup and removed the waiting state. The check was a heuristic for an unavailable widget, not a reliable diagnosis of an ad blocker.

Iterations and delivery

I implemented changes to card groupings, grid arrangements and section order supplied after the team reviewed visitor behaviour. I also configured deployment through GitLab CI and Vercel; a manager handled the public URL. The presence of experimentation tools does not establish the outcome of any experiment.

Result and handover

The standalone landing page was developed and published, with media preparation, quiz integration and subsequent interface iterations. The company could release different page arrangements without rebuilding the main Gatsby website. No measured loading-time or conversion improvement is claimed.
